Is this what a vlogger’s dreams are made of?

As expected, Sony held a special event in New York where they unveiled the flagship a6600, their newest APS-C camera. At a glance, the a6600 doesn’t look all that different than the a6400 that it’s here to replace. As TechCrunch notes:

it has the same 24.2 megapixel APS-C sensor, ISO sensitivity that expands all the way up to 102400, burst shooting at up to 11 fps, 3K 40p internal HDR recording and the same quality viewfinder.

But those specs hardly tell the tale of why this camera is what every vlogger might just want in their studio. To start with, the Sony a6600 offers:

  • Headphone jack
  • Microphone jack
  • In-body image stabilization
  • Real time eye-tracking on animals and humans (photos and videos)
  • Larger Z-battery (720 shots on a charge 810 when not using the EVF)

With a 180-degree tiltable rear touch display, 4K HDR recording, and a mic jack, the a6600 offers everything a vlogger could want with the added benefit of interchangeable lenses, something the RX100 VII doesn’t offer. Sure, the a6600 is a larger camera and doesn’t fit in your pocket, but you’re getting more of, well, everything.

The a6600 will launch in the US around November for $1,400, or $1,800 if you’r wanting a 18–135mm kit lens.
