If the title above looks like a repeat, that’s because it is. Sony last week announced the flagship X1100ES 4K-Blu-ray player that packs just about everything you’d want for your home theater and they’ve followed that up with the technically ‘mid-range’ X800M2 4K-Blu-ray player that packs, well, exactly everything its higher-end sibling offers.

As a recap, for visual fans, the X800M2, beyond full DVD and Blu-ray playback, can also play 4K Blu-ray flicks, be it with Dolby Vision or HDR10. On top of that, the player has everything you’d want for the perfect sound as well with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support, ensuring you get the best 4K visual and audio experience.

But there’s even more audio support — the X800M2 like the flagship X1100ES also provides audio-playback with DSEE HX upscaling, Super Audio CD, and Hi-Res Audio. Other features to make it over include:

Sony unique chassis
Our unique frame-and-beam chassis offers a rigid structure to eliminate micro-vibrations, as well as effective electrical shieldin

Heat Sink and Disk Drive
Made from quality materials for improved sound quality, the Heat Sink and Disk Drive keep your discs and the chassis of the UBP-X800M2 cool, for extended viewing hours, boxset after boxset.

As for outputs, there’s a whole host to choose from:

  • HDMI Output(s): 2 (Rear)
  • Coaxial Audio Output(s): 1 (Rear)
  • USB Input(s): 1 (Front)
  • Ethernet Connection(s): 1 (Rear)

For fans of less wires, there’s even Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz, 5 GHz) and Bluetooth audio so you can either pair your favorite headphones or stream audio to a wireless speaker.

BLUETOOTH® wireless audio for private viewing
Amplify the effect of every cinematic moment when you watch privately. The UBP-X800M2 supports Bluetooth® audio transmission, so you can use your favorite Bluetooth® headphones for private viewing without wires.

Simultaneous HDMI and Bluetooth® audio transmission
Enjoy total clarity for dialogue and soundtracks, near or far away. The UBP-X800M2 can send audio to your TV via HDMI and to a wireless speaker via Bluetooth® connection, at the same time.

Like the X1100ES, there’s no price listed for the X800M2 but if the above is any indication, it offers exactly what the flagship device delivers but probably at a lower price which is confusing.
