One of the great features about the PS4 will be the ability to play a game like Killzone: Shadow Fall while still downloading the title. The move is meant to even the playing field for those who wish to download a digital copy of a game, versus purchasing it on Blu-ray. Much like how Netflix or your Apple TV might cue up a movie, depending on your download speed, the PS4 will allow you to download a game and soon after, begin to play it without needing to finish the download in full. This will also be a huge asset to this generation as titles are expected to take up folds more hard drive space. But what happens if you internet gives out or you pause the download mid game play? SCE Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida revealed that and a few more tidbits on Twitter.

According to Shu:

Game would say you cannot play further.

Basically, the games are designed that you’ll run into a invisible wall so to speak. Now, this isn’t literal in the sense that you’ll be walking down the road and suddenly are forced to come to an abrupt stop because of this wall. Instead, each area will likely be loaded and once you’re ready to progress to the next stage, the data simply won’t be there and you’ll be greeted with the said screen.

A few other answers Shu gave on Twitter include:

  • You will eventually be able to use the PlayStation Pulse Elite Headset with the PlayStation 4 but not at launch. Seems like a bizarre thing since there isn’t a whole lot of tech in the headset.
  • There will be a lot more to PlayRoom, the free companion app/game for those who will purchase the PlayStation 4 Camera.
  • While this one is irrelevant to those in the US, the PS4 will also eventually work with Nasne.

What other question are you still pondering about in regards to the PS4?
