The global pandemic and the current quarantine may have indefinitely delayed the AAA exclusive Iron Man: VR from coming to PlayStation VR, but that doesn’t mean the platform won’t be getting a major game this summer.

Announced on May the 4th, Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series is headed to PS VR sometime in the next few months. Chaim Gartenberg for the Verge:

Designed as an episodic narrative virtual reality experience, Vader Immortal puts players into the digital shoes of a smuggler who gets drawn into a larger scheme from the infamous villain. The story sees players work with — and, eventually, face off against — the Dark Lord of the Sith himself.

The story, which was written by screenwriter David S. Goyer, is considered to be part of the sprawling Star Wars canon, and it plays out like a personal Star Wars theme park

Though not exactly the same, having played Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire, a VR experience at Disneyland, I’m pretty excited by the notion of more people getting to experience Star Wars in virtual reality. If you’ve got a PS VR and Star Wars is your thing, I’d keep this game’s release, which outside of a summer window is unclear, on your radar. Finally, lightsaber battles as they were meant to be.

From ILMxLAB:

All three episodes will be available together as one individual purchase, bringing the complete VR trilogy together.

Vader Immortal, which debuted with Episode I on May 21, 2019, has been acclaimed by both press and fans. Fans have enjoyed stepping into the role of a Force-sensitive smuggler, and they have spent hours mastering the Lightsaber Dojo to unlock the lightsaber hilts of Darth Maul, Ahsoka Tano, Luke Skywalker, and Kylo Ren.

The series won Best VR/AR Game at the 2020 Game Developers’ Choice Awards, and Vader Immortal: Episode I won VR Experience of the Year at the 2019 VR Awards, took home the inaugural Innovation Award at the 2020 Producers Guild Awards, and was named a Finalist for Outstanding Innovation in Interactive Media at the 2019 Emmys.

Now, is it just me, or is something off with Vader’s voice?

Do you see yourself picking this up on PS VR?
